200hr Yoga Teacher Training / 120hr In-Depth Study

We are excited to offer 2 tracks of traditional study of the theory and practice of Hatha Yoga.

Module 1: is an In-Depth 120hr yoga study which guides students in developing a quality way of being through the practice of asana, breath work and meditation. This core module of study  follows a holistic path meeting each students specific physical and mental condition, emotional state, age, cultural background, and interests. Students will be provided with a functional blueprint to deepen overall sense of well-being in the world and learn to take great care of self on all levels.

Module 2: is for those students who are inspired to teach, and assists the teacher in finding their voice and bringing their experience to the classroom. Module 2 completes the required 80 hours of study needed to meet the Yoga Alliance standards and receive the 200hr teaching certification.

Postures Asana: Learn the 20 foundational Yoga Postures, the art of sequencing, proper use props and modifications within postures to accommodate every body.

Philosophy: Gain a deeper personal relationship and understanding witht yoga philosophy and history with an emphasis on integrating Patanjali’s Yoga Sutras and the teachings of Georg Feuerstein, Ph.D.

Principles of Anatomy and Physiology: Focus on safety, joint movement, range of motion, and a functional understanding of skeletomuscular systems and structures. A&P curriculum developed by Leslie Kaminoff and Amy Mattews for 200hr and 500hr Yoga Teacher Trainings.

Pranayama: Enable students to experience body-mind integration and purification through yogic breathing. Learn and practice creative ways of incorporating various pranayama techniques into your posture sequences as well as opening and closing breath work practices.

Meditation: Gain skills for centering yourself and your students. Create a safe space for fostering inward focus, guiding meditation, and cultivating deep relaxation.

Lead Teacher

Vanessa Tierney - Vanessa has been a devoted yoga student for more than 30 years and began teaching Hatha Yoga in 2009 (E-RYT 200) and has over 300 hours of advanced teacher training in Vinyasa, Yin, and Restorative Yoga (RYT 500).  She is also certified in Reiki and continues to study energy anatomy, pranayama, meditation, yoga history and philosophy. She has studied with world-renowned teachers in Bali, Indonesia and at the Kripalu Center for Yoga and Meditation.

Teaching Philosophy and History:

Shelly Dell - M.A. E-RYT500-hr, YACEP, C-IAYT, Somatic Experiencing Practitioner, Ananda Meditation Teacher, TYS Yoga Philosophy 800-hr

Shelly’s two decades of teaching yoga has run parallel to her career as a licensed psychotherapist. In 2003, she began integrating yoga psychology and techniques with her western psychology education and training. This integrated approach balances mind and body in cases of anxiety, depression, post-traumatic-stress-disorder, chronic conditions and pain as well as other stress-related issues. She is a dedicated Kriyaban (initiated into Kriya Yoga). And a traditional yoga meditation teacher.

Teaching Anatomy and Physiology:

Jennifer Jensen - has over 18 years of experience as a Licensed Massage Therapist and 5 years as Certified Yoga Teacher. She co-founded Be Well Studios of Scituate Harbor with her sister in 2013 and finds great joy in teaching her bodywork clients and yoga students how to create a relaxed mind and healthy body through the practice of Meditation, Hatha Yoga, Yin Yoga and Breath-work.

Teaching Methodology:

Christina Longman - Chris comes to us from the Midwest. There, she worked with Dr. Kia McCullen DC developing and implementing exercise programs for patients recovering from back injuries for many years. This rewarding work lead Chris on her path towards helping others and opening her own yoga studio outside of Ann Arbor, MI. Chris received her RYT- 200 certification in 2008 under the tutelage of Lee Ann Louis-Prescott and is registered with Yoga Alliance. Although she is trained in the Sivananda tradition, Chris is always a student, and attends classes and workshops all over the country. She has also earned her Reiki II certificate. Chris moved to Scituate, MA in the spring of 2012 with her Husband and three children, and quickly fell in love with New England.

Teaching Methodology:

Laura Griffin - Laura’s love for yoga started over 10 years ago as she searched for a way to find a little peace in her life. It wasn’t long before her weekly practice turned into a passion and she explored a range of styles including Iyengar and Asthanga. Finally she found Kripalu and knew this was her answer. She received her certification at Kripalu Center for Yoga and Health in Lenox, MA in 2005 and has been a member of Yoga Alliance ever since.

Since then she has studied chair yoga, holds a certification in barre fitness (2014) and YogaFit for kids (2006). Laura is excited to share her love and joy for teaching and be among people eager to discover the benefits of yoga. Laura lives in Scituate with her husband and 2 inspiring daughters.
