What is Reiki?

Reiki is a form of alternative medicine, developed in Japan in 1922.  It is a subtle and effective form of energy healing using Universal Life Force Energy.  It works on the physical, mental, emotional and spiritual levels for healing.  It uses energy to balance the body and mind.  Reiki is believed to improve almost any aspect of life from physical health and emotional stability to stress reduction and mental clarity.  Studies have proven that Reiki can help people suffering from major to minor issues.

What Are the Health Benefits of Reiki?

Reiki helps ease tension and helps support the body to facilitate an environment for healing on all levels – physical, emotional, mental and spiritual.  One of the greatest health benefits is stress reduction and relaxation.  Reiki triggers the body’s natural healing abilities, aids in better sleep and improves overall health.  Reiki can also bring about a calmer and more peaceful state of being, in which one is able to better cope with everyday pressures.  It also enhances memory and mental clarity.  Reiki can help alleviate mood swings, fear, frustration and even anger.  It can also help in the grieving process during emotional transitions.  On the physical level, Reiki helps relieve pain from migraines, arthritis, sciatica, etc. It can also help with asthma, chronic fatigue, menopause and insomnia.  Reiki is used in hospitals to speed up recovery from surgery, reduce side effects from cancer treatments and so much more.

What Happens in a Reiki Treatment?

In a Reiki session, you lie down, fully clothed on a treatment table, for approximately one hour.  Typically clients feel heat from the practitioners hands and may feel a gentle tingling or pulsing sensation as the energy moves through the body.  There is no pain.  You will experience deep relaxation and may fall asleep.

How Often Should I make a Reiki Appointment?

For total balancing, I recommend receiving a session once a week for 4 to 5 weeks, then once a month or whenever you feel “out of balance.

Where Can I Find a Reiki Practitioner?

Reiki is a widely accepted form of alternative medicine used in many hospitals, spas, yoga centers…*Be Well Studios.

Who Can Learn to do Reiki?

ANYONE can learn how to do Reiki.  I recommend everyone learn Reiki I.  In Reiki I, you learn the History of Reiki and how to do Reiki on yourself and others, but you don’t have to want to be a practitioner, this is a level you can use for yourself and family.**

How Do You Become a Reiki Practitioner?

To become a Reiki Practitioner, you need to take Certification Classes with a Reiki Master/Teacher.  A Reiki Master/Teacher has completed all levels of Reiki training and can answer all your questions whether you are using Reiki for your own health and well being or if you chose to start a practice.

What Are The Different Levels of Reiki Training?

In Reiki I, you will learn the History of Reiki, as well as how to do Reiki on yourself, children, plants and animals.  In Reiki II, you will learn two symbols to increase the flow of energy, one of the symbols is for distant healing.  With this symbol, you are able to send Reiki to anyone, anywhere. Reiki III teaches the third and final symbol.  If you choose to go even further and teach the above levels to others, the last level of training is that of a Reiki Master/Teacher.

How Do You Incorporate Reiki into your Daily Life?

I use Reiki almost every day.  I use it on myself, when I’m not feeling well, have an ache or pain and especially when I have trouble sleeping.  I use it often on my children when they are feeling stressed or tense to help them relax and focus more positively. I have used it on my children since they were babies instead of antibiotics.  It increased their immune systems and their bodies were able to fight off the illness.  Reiki has helped me focus on the positive in my life, get out of my head and stay more present.  It has definitely made me physically and emotionally healthier and much happier and very grateful.
